Local Disc Golf ‘Legend’ (just ask him!), Jefferson Barracks Course Captain, and all-around good guy Mark Dudenhoeffer enjoys playing quite a bit of disc golf. He also enjoys snapping a few photos while he’s on the course. Between those obscene looking, but highly effective, forehand putts- known around JB as the “Dudie Putt” (perhaps it’s ‘Doodie Putt?’ ) – and the pictures he takes…well: let’s just say the man gets off some good shots! Hopefully, he’ll be a regular contributor to this page and you’ll be seeing more from “The Dude” in the future.
Our first installment covers The Dude’s late December road trip to play a few relatively new courses just outside of the St. Louis area. Word has it that the group left the south side at 6am, and by the end of the day they had played 54 holes of golf and put a few hundred miles on the car. I can’t identify everyone in the pictures (although i can identify at least one person NOT in the pictures…thanks for the call, guys), but it looks like a group of RCF sharp shooters headed south to go birdie hunting! *EDIT- The Dude has let me know that the group consisted of Greg Doh, Neil Brown, Doug Bickell, Greg “G-Man” Van Horn, and himself*
1/3/12: Club/Board Meeting Scheduled for January 9th
You’ve heard of the United Nations, the Yalta Conference, and Camp David…well, they’ve got nothing on this:
On the second Monday of the first month of the third year of the second decade of the second millenium – that’s January 9th, 2012 to the rest of us – the Club’s Board Members will convene at Sky Music Lounge in Ballwin from 6 to 8pm. All Club Members in good standing are invited…others are invited to sit, if they’re tired. If you can do neither, the group may play you as you lie. It is golf, after all!
I hope everyone is enjoying a great holiday season. The club is growing again with many new members – we have over 330 signed up already for 2012. Listed below are items about the club you might find interesting:
We’ve got all sorts of exciting developments in store for the new year, be sure to bookmark the STLDGC website and our Forums to stay on top of all the DG-news from the St. Louis area!
The Holly Daze Tournament went down on the 10th of December…if you missed it (or maybe you just need a little help to remember it!) here’s a by-the-numbers breakdown of the fun:
70, 22, 36, 2, 15k, 40, 5, 0
70 golfers showed up for the 22nd installment of the Holly Daze, held this year at Sioux Passage- 36 holes in 2 rounds covering over 15,000 feet of golf across the signature hills and valleys of one of St. Louis’ finest courses. Layer-shedding 40-plus degree temperatures; a tasty $5 hot lunch on-site; and Zero – the number of Cali’s Neil needed to finish the Putter Challenge sidegame! The legendary Santa Laker made an appearance in his perfectly placed (and fully stocked!) LakerLand encampment near hole 4, and both the tree and Santa were loaded with presents…
On December the fifth of the year twenty hundred and th’e'leventh at 6pm, all club members so interested shall repair to O’Connell’s Pub to meet, and eat, and perhaps enjoy ourselves responsibly. Serious frisbee business will also be conducted, so, you know – dress accordingly.
11/29/11: Nikko Shoots “Lights Out” @ the Turkey Toss
Brad Stone caught up with St. Louis’ own Nikko Locastro after he won the 21st Annual Turkey Toss at JB by shooting a 107 for 44 holes (i’ll do the math for you- that’s really good!)…including an ace on hole #11B. We may have some more video snippets and photos coming soon, so check back.
11/24/11: Monthly Letter from the RCF President (Nov. 2011)
RCF Club Members,
Hello, this is the first of a monthly communication that I will send out to all members to help you stay connected and know what is happening with the club and our planned direction.
First, let’s review some of last year’s accomplishments (I was Treasurer last year so I will include how our money was collected and spent):
