3/5/12: Gateway Collegiate Classic Recap
With representatives from schools as far-flung as Mississippi State, Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Alabama – and as home grown as Lindenwood University and St. Louis Community Colleges – the 22 Team Gateway Classic was the 2nd-largest Collegiate Team event ever. School spirit was evident as players decked themselves out in team jerseys, joined in rousing cheers, and gave each other pep talks and much needed moral support after a rough throw or a missed putt. The camaraderie and class exhibited throughout the weekend by the competitors is both to be commended, and looked upon as a harbinger of good things to come as Collegiate Team disc golf grows!
Saturday’s action saw 2 rounds of singles play at Jefferson Barracks Park, and the eventual Champions jumped out to an early, and ultimately insurmountable, lead on a cold and blustery day…
3/1/12: The St. Louis Disc Golf Club Matching Baskets Program
*Baskets must be put in within 3 months of the agreement (so as not to restrict other course possibilities)
*Baskets will not be turned over to the recipient until they are within 1 week of being put in the ground (some form of proof will be required)
*There are a maximum of 27 matching baskets available in 2012 for this program
*If the course is closed and not relocated, the RCF retains the right to the baskets (to put into a different course)
*RCF has the option to run, or help run, a tournament at the new course (to help generate interest in the sport – especially if no other club is involved). If the recipient is a municipality, we should be able to run tournaments at the course without any rental fees.
If you’re with an area Club exploring new course opportunities, a local Parks Dept. or other institution looking at putting in a DG course, or are a golfer with an idea for a new Course, this is your opportunity to pair with one of the largest Clubs in the country to get some baskets in the ground…let’s work together to grow the sport and pastime of Disc Golf in the St. Louis area!

2/11/12: Valentine’s Massacre Recap
As the first round began, it became clear that the all-new “Massacre Layout” wasn’t going to be the only thing taking a toll on players’ scores and psyches- the whipping winds and frigid February temps added to the challenge of having a “hot round”, in all senses of the term. Some navigated the track better than others, of course, and during the lunch break the AM field was broken into 3 flights, the cards re-shuffled, and the competitors sent back into battle to see who could put together two quality rounds and come out on top.
The burning question was whether Pro Division 1st-round leader Nate Speer could hold on to claim his first win in an RCF Pro/Cash Division. As you can tell from his expression in the picture to the right, he did, coming away with a commanding 5 stroke victory and what would be an impressive two round total in any conditions on this layout (56/57- 113)…congratulations on the big win, Nate!
2/3/12: Club/Board Meeting Scheduled for February 6th
No, not that time of the month – it’s time for another Club Meeting! This coming Monday, February 6th, from 6 to 8pm @ Sky Music Lounge in Ballwin, the Club’s Board members will get together to hatch their nefarious plans for world domination. Or, alternately, to plan and discuss upcoming events and issues of import to the world of St. Louis-area Disc Golf. It’ll be one or the other- the only way to find out is to show up and make your voice be heard!

1/30/12: The Dude Chronicles: Vol. 2 “Notes from the Underground”
Our crack team of researchers has assured us that this is the world’s first underground Disc Golf Course, right here in our own backyard. In addition to golf, there are sand volleyball courts, air soft tournaments, beer and beverage sales on site, an underground lake featuring barge rides, and all sorts of other bells and whistles that make this a “must” for any local golf enthusiast. Many of the details are still in flux: additional lighting is being added, some holes will change their shape as things develop, and, currently, the complex is only open to golfers on Friday evenings from 7pm-Midnight, when the sand volleyball league also takes place. But even at this early stage in its development, The Underground is truly a “kid in the candy store” kind of experience.
1/26/12: Monthly Letter from the RCF President (Jan. 2012)
(Click Here to Read Last Month’s Letter)
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! We have had a very mild winter so far, with very little snow. We’ve had big crowds at all RCF Events from October forward – thanks for all of your participation, and thanks to all of our hard-working volunteers!
Here is a list of the many things we are working on, as well as general comments:
