Bridgeton Course Update Thread

Based on how Unger went, I just want the club to approach this project a little more cautiously and try to do it right the first time. I think we rushed into Unger and we paid the price for it. Kinda like the old saying, measure twice and cut once to prevent yourself from making too many mistakes. I know that every course evolves with time, but lets try to cover as much as we can with the first draft so there isn't as much work to be done down the road.

Don's 27 was great IMO. variety was covered, obstacles were used, etc. save for the long arms (CC fans) among us, everyone would be happy with that course.

no it wasn't an epic be-all-end-all course, but certainly worthy of the space out there.

I had heard that the Bridgeton course was gonna be possibly thirty six holes on the west side. is there any truth to that?

I think the 27 that are layed out would be considered 27 Holes, not the 27 hole layout. I think Jeff is correct we will proceed cautiously but aggressively, I think 27 would suit this parcel. Can we get 36 holes? Maybe if they let us use the land they have planned for the future, we can get 36 temporarily.
If we get the other property, then you will see 18 that has more championship terrain. The current 27 holes by no means is pitch and putt. We have passed the first hurdle, which is to pitch this opportunity to the park board. We have entered the next stage and here is what needs to happen:
Tim Finan please get me the current layout on paper
I will take that Layout to SLIK and we will apply the layout on the aerial view for presentation to Bridgeton City Council.
City Council had a meeting last Thursday and the course was discussed, now all members are aware of it.
The next step is to get face time with the council members.
Then we can begin Phase I. Chris and I hope to meet with and get approval for Phase I so we can announce/display the course information at the Turkey Toss.

There is no name as of yet, it's not even a park yet. I have heard the name Legends at Carrolton thrown out there though.

not in the near future.

the red tape has to be cleared with bridgeton/the airport/whoever else before anyone lifts a shovel.

hopefully things will get rolling in the spring, but don't hold your breath.

Don't quote me on that; i'm not official in this process in any way shape or form, just what i've gathered so far.

I got to play the new course on Sunday and other than a few tweaks, I would say the course has alot of potential to be my new favorite. I'd like to actually see it without snow but it has some nice elevation changes and i like that almost every hole has O.B. come into play.

Can't wait to play it and I'm ecstatic that we'll have a 27 hole course! In the future we could possibly have another 27 there, imagine that.

Is the elevation major or minor, average hole distance & approx. course distance/par?
