Willmore Park?

I was driving by Willmore today for the first time in quite a while.. and I started the realize that it would be a legit park to fit in a challenging 18 hole course.

Has anyone ever thought of this? I would assume the main issue would be foot traffic (similar to Forest Park), but in all honestly, this park has potential to be very popular and challenging.

I live not too far from Willmore as well, and it is certainly a bigger park than most people realize. I haven't really taken much time to explore it in terms of a course though. I've considered stopping though. Want to meet up there and see what we can see? Matteo would be a good person to get involved in something like this since he has experience dealing with the city.

Absolutely dude. Let me see what my work schedule looks like for the the next couple days and I'll post on here.
I've got to close tonight, and I'm going out of town on the 23rd (Friday); but I have no idea what days I work other than tonight.. lol

Regardless, when we go look we should hit up JB before or after. Any excuse to throw is ok in my book...

i highly doubt there will ever be a course approved for willmore park, much less the first DG course in the city, but a buddy and i who live by the park have 'designed' an 18 hole temp course (9 on the south part, 9 on the north) that we bring my portable basket up to play sometimes. let me know if you want to see some info/pics/etc. on the holes we've worked up, or play a round!

Just out of curiosity, is there some specific issue the the city of St. Louis has with a DG course?

Do they believe it will generate too much traffic, or simply detract from the original park design?

I'm slightly confused on the matter... help?

Figure out, how to make 18 killer holes in 1 park. Anybody can put in 18 a lovely holes that are kind, but, 18 hard holes of the bomb style are what is needed, and completely different


Ever played Centraila or the Ozark course?

No callin anybody/thing out but seriously there are other worlds out there.

once I'm at home I hope I can find the scribblings I've made at Willmore too. I only had 9 holes, but memeory says it's not too far from yours.

Apparently the Parks commissioner for the city has something against the sport. A good red-level course (beginners, recreational) would be a great way to start. I'm not forgetting Matt's Carondolet at all.

The ideal sure would be to build an amazing 18 holes, but it may not be the best way to try and start. Heck, 3 holes in any city park would be a huge step.
