Quail Ridge fundraiser discs

Postby magic on Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:16 am

Dave at Gateway Disc Sports has donated 100 discs to be used as a fundraiser to purchase new chains for all 18 baskets at Quail Ridge. They are $10 each with every dollar going towards the chains. Sell 100 discs and we have the $1000 needed to get this done. They have a very nice Quail Ridge custom stamp on them. For now all I have is a mix of putters, but may get some drivers. Hopefully you won't be as concerned about what kind of disc it is and more concerned that your contribution is going to improve the baskets at a great course. So far 10 have been sold. I’ll have them at league every week and Greg Kuehn will have some also. You can also give me a call and I’ll do what I can to get one to you, 314-413-4773.

Make sure to bring 'em to the "Clobber" and I'll pick up a putter or two for sure.

New chains sounds sweet...so does getting the baskets powder coated. It would only cost thirty dollars per basket to get 'em coated any color you want pretty much. Increases visibility and makes the baskets look a heck of a lot better.

I don't know when I would get it from you Andy, but I would like one as well.
Perhaps you and I can meet for a round sometime, it has been a while...

I will definitely have all of the fundraiser discs available at the Clobber. Thanks for asking about them. There are about 25 sold so far. Dan, we'll have to hook up one of these days and get a round in. It sounds like you are about as busy as I am though. Why don't you come out to the Clobber? With a limited field, a shorter course and lunch available I'm hoping to get done pretty early. Just be sure to pre-register!

Below is a list of who has bought a disc so far and where a few others have gone as well. Still quite a ways to go. There isn't much of a selection left to choose from right now and I'm waiting to get the next batch from Gateway. I haven't called out anyway yet for not buying one, but give me a little more time and you know I will!!!

Andy, are you sure those are all of the people who bought discs? I swear I've heard at least 5 people constantly complain about the chains out there but their names are not on that list. I would have figured that they would be the first people to help out.

I'm sure those people will get ahold of you soon and rectify that situation (you "complainers" know who you are :D ).

Don't need no stinkin chains. we need 9 more holes and alternate pin placements, new benches, erosion control and less termites.

There are a lot of things we need besides the chains being replaced. A lot of this money will be used to replace some chains, but not necessarily all of them. Until we get them all sold though it doesn't really matter.

We have started putting in alternate pin placements and we are replacing the chains as we do so. A very big thanks to Chris Horvath for taking the lead in this project. Hole 13 has been completed with 2 new placements. The parks dept will be coming through and putting down new dirt and grass seed at the old placements. Once the ground has recovered a bit we will be putting a 3rd placement back in. The basket on 13 is a little low due to the method we are using, but this will be corrected. I personally think it looks great and I'm looking forward to getting more completed.

The parks dept will be taking a look at what we did on hole 13 tomorrow to make sure they are OK with everything before we proceed any further. There was a bit of an issue with a marking flag being moved after the parks dept approved the placement, but I don't see it being much of an issue. If you do see flags out there please don't move them.

Holes 1 and 2 are on the agenda for next weekend. After that we will be doing holes 15-18. Those are the ones in the open with the biggest erosion problems.

Our original agreement with Gateway was for them to donate 100 discs to be sold for $10 each. This was to be used to replace the chains. I have given Dave $500 for 9 baskets. There are still 33 discs to be sold. After the first 9 baskets are completed we can't proceed any furter until the remaining discs are sold. Below is a list of who has bought discs so far. There are a lot of names I see missing from the list. There is one guy from KC who has never even played the course who bought 2 discs. If you have not bought one of the discs yet I will ask that you please do in order to complete our goal. Thanks to everyone who has bought a disc so far.
