4 Club Showdown planning and recruiting is underway. Each Club of the RCF (STLDGC, SCCDGC, JCS, SICG) is competing for bragging rights and money for their club. Post here if you are interested in competing for either of the clubs. Be advised, the best of the best are going head to head. More details coming.

Team Captains are as follows;

STL;
Chris Kinsella - (314) 583-3340, crkinsella@att.net

SCC;
Jim Nelms - (314) 223-0528, jamesdnelms@gmail.com

SICG;
Shobu Miyazawa - (618) 530-0475, DFJap618@hotmail.com
Chris Gore - (636) 634-6400, chrisjgore@gmail.com

JCS;
Joe Bryson - (314) 221-2824, tweekingyoda@yahoo.com

A few players will be playing other events on Sept 7. The two larger Clubs, STLDGC and SCCDGC, may not pull from other rosters to fill their respective teams. That is, players must be current 2013 members of the club they play for. Good players that are not members of any Club may not play for STLDGC nor SCCDGC. JCS and SICG may recruit new members to play for their teams but those players may not 'play for free'. Therefore they join for $20 and pay $20 entry fee. Alternate players, those ready to play but not yet assigned/picked, may play for another club by joining that Club and play for free if they choose. Players that give verbal commitment to play for a team and switch teams are disquailified from the event.

I thought the cross town rumble, or 4 club showdown was supposed to be a fun event about bragging rights not revenue generation.

Why are you getting all strict with the rules? Why not let people play if they want to?
Also, This event is 1 month before the RCF Club Champs & only 1 week before the St. Charles Club Champs, why would someone who is not already a member pay $20 to become a 2013 member for 1-4 weeks? And, while we're talking about money, why is a 1 round tournament still $20?

There are plenty of ways to enrich the local disc golf experience without having to turn a profit...

Jeff, this event is an interclub fundraiser. It is between current 2013 members of each club. The rules are designed to keep the playing field level for the smaller clubs. The rules are in place to prevent shenanaghans while recruiting like bringing in a ringer who hasn't bothered to join your club all year. If someone wants to play and they haven't joined a club, then they have to join a club. However, if they haven't joined by the posting of this event, then they may not play for STL nor SCC, the two larger clubs. The event is priced at $20 to create rewards 4 ways and to prevent tanking. That is, to put downward pressure on someone who might purposefully play poorly so his team would lose.
There were players last year who said yes to two clubs and it caused problems. This year that unscrupulous behavior/player will be disqualified from playing.

The STL Club has 479 members as of August 26, 2013. The SCC Club has 127 members as of June 18, 2013, the latest posting. I have not seen the roster for JCS nor SICG. Many of our members are also members of the other RCF clubs.

Is there really a bad time to support your local disc golf courses? $20 seems like a lot of money but considering the number of courses in our area and that we take care of most of them, it’s a bargain. The RCF also has a Matching Baskets Program to facilitate the installation of more courses. We recently installed Willmore Park and are working on the 2nd, 18 hole course at Sioux Passage. Seems $20 is asked to be $100 for all we do.

Just a little curious about one thing. The SCCDGC currently has 178 members. Are we really that much larger then the JCS or SICG? I can't really see that being the case at least not enough to be penalized. I'm almost afraid that if the SCCDGC wins again this year that there will be another rule added that any players on the SCCDGC team will have to play with one hand tied behind their back!

It was pointed out that our Club Champs are the following week. We don't even have any tags remaining to sign up new members if we could. I'd say that if Jim can recruit anyone who isn't already a member they should be able to sign up for a 2014 membership and be able to play. We should have the tags and discs in time.

This is a 2013 member event, Magic. Let's please not circumvent the rules by using 2014 members to play. If they haven't joined your club by August 26th, they may not play as a 2013 member. I only have the posted June roster to go by. Would you please post the most recent roster? All players must have a 2013 tag to participate.
