;>) Traveling Laker League (Chapter1: A New Hope)

Come 1, Come all, join the Laker League.This is the only traveling league in the metro area. There is no entry fee to join & you do not have to pay to play. But for only $3 you get entry into the ongoing Hole-n-1,
Skins, and the overall win. You can enter any, or all 3, every week.
We are not a sactioned league & we play for FUN. We don't keep stats & we always follow rule #1; which states "have fun". You get to earn your place on the teepad by virture of when FPA pysically sees you before we tee-off, & we play gang golf. If you need quiet and concentration when you play, we might not be the best group to play with because we are quite a lewd league. We can be a little loud & might even play some mind games during the round. We have been known to play catch with a ultimate disc while we are shooting the round. Sometimes we have had to tee off with everyone using these, sometimes we have simo-teeoffs.

FPA won at Creve Coeur on Sunday with a slick 58. We had a dozen LAKERS out on the course with 10 tags up 4 grabs. The sun was shining, the temp was a near perfect 76, and the breeze was almost nonexistent until the last 2 or 3 holes. Next Sunday, November 9th is supposed to be at Moscow Mills but as of this posting all we were able to do was leave a message. I will continue to try to find out if the ranch is open for play next weekend and will post the status of the course as soon as I get the news.

This schedule should be checked on a regular basis because our league is always prone to sudden fun attacks and we have been known to go on road trips to further course, such as Columbia or Centrailia, or maybe we all participate in a tournament while we play LAKER LEAGUE These changes are always posted in advance.

Everything is a go for the ranch in Moscow Mills. I just got off of the phone with them and they said it would be ok for us to play. So come one come all, Sunday at 09:00 & have FUN.

Jerry B. won at Moscow Mills Sunday, shooting a meager 50, but we all tied for first in the fun catagory, once we all made it on the course and started shooting. L.O.L. It was a record turnout with 20 players and 17 tags to choose from What a great time of year to play at the ranch. Beautiful scenery & no ticks or other tiny livestock. All we needed to do was bring out some food & beverages & we would have had a outing!! Only 1 disc was lost in the lake & none in the creek!

Does anyone know yet how the Ryder Cup went?
Think about a possible date at John K.s 9 hole course, the invite has been offered.
Next week we will be playing at Quail Ridge next Sunday at 09:00. At long last, my home course

On Sunday November 16, there were 13 participants & 10 tags up for grabs, 3 in the top 10, including the elusive #1. Citizen Kane won with a very workman like 49. There were 3 skins for a total of $4 each.

This Sunday November 23 will be a split 9. Starting at Bluebird park in Ellisville at 09:00, we will play 9 holes and then cruise to Shroeder park in Manchester for 9 more holes. Hole-n-1 stands at about $70. Maybe we can have a 50/50 drawing with the cash to pay for names and improvments on the traveling hole-n-1 trophy, to be known from here on as the "BECK CUP". Come on out and have some fun with the LAKERS, you never know who will show up or what # they will be bringing with them.

While we were discussing this format it was brought up that there could be a 9 hole ironman. It could start at Jokerst and continue thru Watson, Kircher, Shroeder, Bluebird, and up to Roxanna. This could also work as a ironman for the juniors, if there is still a juniors league. Just a idea!

Don't forget about the turkey toss at Quail on Saturday night, the 22nd.

On Sunday the 23rd, FPA won with a tough 55. But let it be known that there were no losers in the FUN dept. There were 10 LAKERS out there, with 9 tags up for grabs. 4 of those tags were in the top 25 Kudos to Grant for coming out for the first time and increasing our fun level expedientially . The skin payout was $1 each and the hole-n-1 is now at $79.

TIME & LOCATION CHANGE:

Next Sunday, 11/30, is time for 1 of our sudden fun attacks. That means a change in schedule for that day!!! We will be going to the new 18 hole course in Alton, IL., Rock Spring Park, showing up at 10:30 & trying to start at 11:00. Rumor has it that the Sunday nooner crowd from Jefferson Barracks and the golfers from Collinsville will be out there as well, so pack some extra room for more fun in your bag. We plan on running a 50/50 to help with install cost for the course so bring some $$.
In case you notice the courses being slightly cleaner, check and see if we have been to your course lately. We have been known to do garbage patrol and slight course maintanence while playing. It is not hard to do and makes it a better time for all, not to mention that it does help with the overall perception of disc golfers to the general public.

It took a little work on mapquest to find all the roads, but those directions look spot-on.

question: do i need to join some group to play tomorrow if i make it out?

money is rather tight so i'd rather not plop down the $20 (for the stldg membership) if i don't have to, but i will try to make it out anyway to check out a new course and meet and greet some fellow dg'ers.

No $ needed to play, only if you want to get into the weekly for the LAKERS, the FUN is alway free yet it is priceless. Go figure! If this is kind of vague it is explained better in the first TRAVELING LAKER LEAGUE entry. There are differant fees for other leagues and the $20 is if you are looking to join the RCF League, which is the parent organization for disc golf in the greater Saint Louis region.
