JB Doubles Summer League Session 2 - Starts 7/19

Here are the standings after Week 4...

No ACES were hit, so the ACE POOL should be right around $275 next week. The course is going to remain in a vulnerable layout, so bring it on!

3 teams shot the hot round (43, -11) last week, so I am letting everyone involved pick out their favorite hole. Once I get those holes figured out, I will fill in the blanks and try to keep the course length right around 6,000 - 6,100 ft. I will post the layout as soon as everything is figured out.

Here is the layout for the next two weeks...let's call it the "NO B" layout...

It is a D'OH design with the help of the other -11 gang members. I will dream of slamming short 18 in my sleep.

It looks like there are 14 baskets to move. Who wants to help me jam it out tomorrow around 3:30pm or so? The weather is going to be nice, so let's take care of it before the Thursday Singles round. Oh, and we will also have to clear out the space for basket 14. It hasn't seen the light of day in quite some time...

One last thing I forgot to mention...

Daylight time is starting to disappear on us, so I am going to start the necessary adjustments to the league start schedule. Starting today, the last card (my card) will go out at 5:20pm. Starting at 4:00 or 4:15pm, I am going to start alternating cards on the front 9 and back 9. Hopefully this will help get everyone in before dark. Also, I am really going to push for people to get on the course as quickly as possible. That doesn't mean that you can't warm-up or anything, I just would like to see people expedite the whole procedure a little bit.

The team/teams that shoot the hot round next week will get to help me set up the course for Weeks 7 & 8.

The present course layout proved to be a bit much for the amount of daylight that we have right now. Despite the fact that the course is just barely more than 6,000 ft, it seemed to play a bit trickier than anticipated. A couple of groups that started right around 5:15 - 5:30 ended up finishing in the dark. The drizzling of rain that came down around 4:30 - 4:45 probably didn't help any...it seemed like a lot of groups held off, with cards in hand, until it passed. I apologize for any hassles that this may have caused. There are a couple of solutions to this problem. First off, I am going to move Hole 4 in to the NEW B position and Hole 17 in to the A position. Second, I am going to alternate sending cards off on Hole 1 and 10 from the get go. If you don't like starting on Hole 10, then you will have to wait until another card takes your place. We will see if this helps any. Bring some glow stuff if you are going to be teeing off late too.

All of the scores from Week 5 have been accounted for, so I can now start the process of coming up with the divisional splits. I usually give it a couple of days before I tackle the situation. This gives me a chance to forget about the name/score relationships and really look at everything without any bias. From the get go, I can already tell you that the scores are extremely tight for all of the AMs. No matter where I make the splits, somebody is going to feel like they got the shaft. Please understand, it is nothing personal. I can't promise it, but I always try to make it so that there are no more than 10 strokes seperating first from last in all of the AM divisions. With 3 more weeks to go, everyone has an opportunity to make a comeback with some good golf.

You know the idea of letting the players set up the course is real cool. But the only problem is if thats a prize so to speak for shooting the hot round, that means about 3/4 of the league players will never get that privilage. Is there another viable option for earning the right to set the course layout. Maybe a special ctp on the easiest hole that week or something to give the lower tier players a legitimate shot.
