I will have the glow sticks for discs as usual, but I was also thinking about picking up some LED lights (link is below). Is there any interest in these? I plan on getting at least a few for myself to see how well they work. The actual cost for them is about 3 times as much as the glow sticks, but they are reusable and should be easier to see. With 3 glow events coming up at QR you could pick up 5 of them and be set for the rest of the year.

I believe it was jalbanese who originally posted a link to these LED's lights. If you or anyone else has used them I'd like to hear your feedback.

If anyone would like to preorder some I will sell them at close to cost. Any extras I do have will be sold for a bit of a markup the day of the event. And any profit gained is put back into the event either through increased payouts or to pay for supplies.

These are a lot cheaper than the Nite Brite tube LEDs. And, depending on how you attach them, probably less impact on the disc's path. Cool!

Those LED lights are going to run between 80-90 cents each depending on how many I get and shipping costs. The old LED lights I used to use were about $3 each. With the flat design of these they shouldn't impact the flight as much either. On this site the normal 1.5" glow sticks are almost 30 cents each with shipping and they will only last one round.

As of right now I'm thinking about getting around 100 of the LED lights. Depending on how many people show up to play they could go fast. If you are interested let me know and I'll be sure to get some for you.

Andy, no matter what, if you haven't ordered yet, please get a dozen for me.
I'll see you sometime, or through some intermediary.

Steve - I'll send you an email.

I did order some of the LED lights. I attached a few pics of them, but they aren't the best. Not sure yet what I'll be charging for them. They do work great though. I put one on a solid disc and it shined through just fine (it was a white disc though).

When they are taped to the disc you can easily turn them on and off, so with a 12+ hour battery time you should easily be able to get quite a few rounds out of them. I was a little worried that it might screw something up with them when you pulled the tape off, but there were no problems at all.

I have a feeling I'll probably sell most of them I have, but will pick up some more before the next glow round at Quail.

I read somewhere that we might need to preregister for the glow round because the field could fill up... Is this being overzealous, or should i contact someone to reserve a spot?

Thanks,
Vince

P.S. those lights kick ass, i bought a set of ten over a year ago, granted i only play glow a few times a year, but six of the ten still work great, the other four have faded. Well worth a few bucks.

Vince - I have no idea if it will be a full field or not. As of right now there are only about 20 pre-registered, but that's pretty normal. This event last year had almost 60 players and the Halloween glow had almost 70. Eventually one of these events will fill and some players will get turned away. I put the pre-registration on there just to cover myself. Consider yourself registered though. All I ask is that if you do find out you can't play please let me know ASAP.

Jim Nelms and Debbie Polkinghorne were on Fox 2 news this morning with Tim Ezell to promote the tournament. Below is a link although I can't find anything that shows the actual segment.

I did order 100 of the LED lights, but have already sold almost half of them. Most likely I will run out, but will have plenty of the other glow sticks. I'll be sure to order more of the LED lights before the Halloween glow.

There were 67 participants for a total of $670 in entry fees. The parks dept gets 25% which is $167.50 (this does go towards paying for the glow sticks on the baskets and the shelter rental). This was rounded to $170 leaving $500 for payouts. I did add $30 from the sale of the glow sticks to bring the total to $530. The CTP on every hole was $5 for a total of $90 on the CTP’s. That left $440 for the actual payouts. Bekin figured out the payouts for each flight. They looked good to me so I went with it.

Below are the CTP winners for each hole. Again they were $5 each. There were 2 of them a mistake may have been made on. I have down who I think was paid out. On hole 12 Kyle Hayhurst was written on one side of the flag and Aaron Walther was written on the other side. Not sure who won, but I think the money was given to Aaron. On hole 13 Jeff Pridgeon and Aaron Walther’s names were written on top of each other. With the lighting at the shelter I don’t think I even noticed and again I think the money was given to Aaron.
