It's actually less than 90 degrees right now...with a heat index of only 92! You will only lose 5 pounds in water weight instead of 10! Anyone plan on making it this evening? It's going to be hot and sticky, but what the hell, let's chuck some plastic!

Has the time start been pushed back yet? I'm a beginner and am looking to try some competition.

We generally start sending cards out from 5ish to 6. I'll go back to 5 in a few months when it starts getting dark early again. Hope to see you out, and bring your friends.

Looks like a good day coming tomorrow for some snow golf. JB - 3PM

I tried it out and the gift-package ribbon works well. 4ft of ribbon = 10-15% lost distance = no lost discs.

.25" ribbon and packing tape is all you need

Disc Up,
Watch out that the ribbon does not catch on your finger on the release. I have heard of that happening and ripping open the finger! :o
 You can try affixing a large 2 gram washer or tin can lid to the bottom side of the disc, then search for it with a magnet on a telescoping rod. Word is, it will lift the disc out from under 6" and find the disc up to 12" deep, and you might not have to put your hand into the snow for retrieval.
Have fun guys. :D

8-)

Bruce,

I see that you must check on the discgolfersrus.com discussion boards! I think the person that commented on the ribbon catching your finger and opening it up was smoking crack. He was just trying to stir up some negativity. He also said it causes discs to get hung up in the trees. I have intentionally tried to make this happen and wasn't even close. Once again, I think he was hitting the pipe that day. The ribbon works great and I don't think there is any inherent danger to the method. Today I split the ribbon in half (just tore it down the middle) and it seemed to drag less. I would say it affected the distance maybe 5-10%. I never even had to kick the snow around once!

It's that time of year again. I am stepping down from running this league. I encourage you all to keep it going, and keep it casual. I'll be out on some Thursday's, so see you out there.
