Disc Up LAKERS,
This Sunday, July 24, 2011@ 9 am we will be meeting at the pavilion by tee pad #1 in Rock Springs DGC, Alton, IL.
This the first of 3 qualifying/seeding rounds for the Traveling LAKERS team for theTraveling Outlaw event.
There are 3 rounds (Alton, Highland, & Collinsville) because not everyone has been able to make it on 1 day. This way, if you have a scheduling conflict you can still make at least 1 round and maybe 2.
As always the place you finish plays a role in the seeding, as does your LAKERability, and seniority. A new twist for this year’s team is that everyone who is invited to tryout, will seed everybody and the results will be tallied up for yet another method of seeding. This will allow everyone contribute more to the team decisions, as well as keeping me from taking all of the heat. The same method can be used after Saturday’s play to decide the seeding for the championship round, as you can see I expect for us to finish a tad better in the golfing aspect of the event than last year. The Saturday night competition is and always has been our strong point, hence the unbeaten record for Saturday night.
You do not have to be trying out for the traveling team in order to come out and play, but I believe that there are close to 18 invites out for an 8 men & 1 woman team. I will bring copious amounts of H2O and ice, fruit, & hopefully something else cold and refreshing.
Now is the time to put all of that LAKER League experience to good use. Since we are the host team, we need to raise the bar again. Last year will be tough to beat, what with campsites, a clubhouse with showers, and a swimming lake, as well as a course on the grounds, but we can do it. We have a rustic campground, usage of the house bathroom until 10 pm, freshly rented & cleaned portapottie, steakhouse on site and a course on the other side of the property. Will we have generators for power? Perhaps, but fear not for we can use glow disc on the course for a round of night golf.
So much to do between now and the weekend of September 10-11, so much fun that weekend!

Fly long & prosper!
Bruce C.
