I like the idea of the CTR very, very much, but I have to agree with Andy that it might be better to scrap it altogether. I cannot think of any way in which to ensure equal numbers of players show up for each team unless it's not an event that's open to everybody. I remember last year the North had 6 players--far fewer than the next fewest--and everyone was scrambling for ways to even the teams. What resulted was switching players around so it could be more "fair," but try telling whichever team lost Geoff that it was fair. If the event is run so that the captains pick their teams like the Ryder Cup, perhaps the event can run more smoothly. That way, if a team's members don't show up in proper numbers, it is their own fault and the other teams will not be responsible for trying to play musical chairs with the rest of their players.

I also believe it will be difficult to organize any league vs. league event because people can play any number of different leagues on different nights. I mean, if I play Endicott on Mondays, CC on Wednesdays, and the nooner every weekend at JB, I'd have a pretty sound argument to play on any of those teams. And as a result of my participation, any one of those teams could lose! :)

With all that said, is there any chance there are leftover Gateway putters from last year's CTR? I really need some more of those.
Everybody just cool out.

I think it should be done like old time playground rules...4 captains and you each pick 1 person at a time until everyones gone...do it like a fantasy draft, captains 1 through 3 make their picks then captain 4 picks twice then captains 3 and 2 make their picks and then captain 1 picks twice and so on til everyones gone. :D

Playground rules rule! After all of the ideas that were mentioned this has to be the BEST one. Hands down.

4 teams, 4 captains, start pickin'....It should be a premeditated thing to deteremine who's the captains. Once you are picked, it doesn't matter where you live, you're representing that side that day.

It shouldn't be as complicated as it has been, that's when things become..no fun.

GREAT IDEA

One problem with playground rules...not everyone plays on the same playground. I know a lot of the people who play at Quail Ridge as well as some of the other courses and I know their skill level. In no way do I know everybody out there. How can a captain possibly pick from a field of players who will include such a large area? It could still work, but obviously you lose the idea of playing for your own territory and that was what the idea of the Crosstown Rumble is. Maybe come up with a new name, The Playground Brawl...

Putting people in divisions and then picking would be a great idea because no one ever sandbags (sarcasm)! Heck, there are people playing in the rec division who are better then me and I play advanced.

The intentions are for everybody to be honest...of course there's sandbaggers...there always will be.
