Yeah it was definitely awesome having spotters on blair witch last year. Makes that hole play so much quicker when the entire group isn't looking for one disc, then everybody has to search for the next guy's disc, and so on.

I've spotted every year of the Open at Endicott. Spotters are there for only 1 reason and it's not to make rulings. That is for the players, TDs or officials. Unless the spotter happens to be an official and has the TDs permission to make calls.

sorry i didn't see this until now (haven't been able to get in to the site). will you be the rcf rep for the membership drive tomorrow? if so, what time will you show up?

I'm gonna watch the F1 race from china early (sunday) morning, but if tomorrow (again, sunday) morning will be the best time to make this arrangement, i'll make my best effort to get out there as early as i can.

in case i can't get back into the site between now and then, give me a call if you will be out there tomorrow.

my number is in the member #'s thread in the announcements section.

i plan on making it out to the courses (at least JB) to watch the action and take some pictures; if there's anything that needs to be done volunteer-wise, i'd be happy to help however i can.

i've managed a workaround for this if it's needed, but can someone answer how late i'd have to be there saturday?

while im at it; is there some specific attire to wear to look 'official'?

what time would i need to be there in the morning (or friday evening??)

my list of stuff to bring right now consists of: cooler w/drinks, chair, hat, bug dope, dry clothes to change into, trash bag.

i still plan to stock my cooler with water bottles to hand out to players as they go to 13. anyone else have suggestions for a first timer (course observer/spotter) ?

An umbrella may be a wise addition to your list. Your gear is best left out of sight and out of the fairway. I would also bring a chair with a back rest and some flags to mark disc locations that are hidden. Flags are available at hardware stores and fellow golfers/TDs. Your clothes should not be colorful or distracting. Part of your duties may include stalling the next group on the tee while the current group holes out and giving the 'all clear' when it is safe to tee off.
Thanks for volunteering.

As a side note, to anyone and everyone who plays discgolf, please do your part to pick up trash while you play. For many of us, it is the only 'volunteering' we can do and it makes a huge difference in the park's appearance.
