Postby discdoh on Mon Nov 21, 2011 10:44 pm

Mark Ehlert sent me this info to post. The tournament is this Sunday, so get your partner in line and head out to Columbia and get your roll on!

The CDGC always puts on a good show!

Well, unfortunately, only one team from the STL area showed up for this annual event.......which is ALWAYS a ton of fun & quite challenging, as well. But, that one team, consisting of Bob Waidmann & Jeff Wulf, who have attended this event for perhaps 15 or so years running, without ever winning the tournament.........finally pulled off the win. Now that was pretty cool......nice shooting Bob, that was a lot of fun!!!

I don't know for sure how a "Roller Tournament" works, but assuming that you have to throw all rollers except on the putt, that's a seriously awesome win.

Congratulations guys! and thanks for representing St. Louis.

With this particular event, all drives off the tee are rollers, the first round all approaches are also rollers, & the second round all approaches are UD (inverted flight plate) shots. The key rule when it comes to putting is that if neither you or your partner at least hit metal (basket & above), then you must take a stroke penalty & then putt from the worst lie of the two. Like I said before, this tournament is rather challenging, but a hell of a lot of fun too.......

We've had a roller doubles tournament here in STL before, but unfortunately it hasn't stayed on the RCF schedule..........
