I'm confused. Is it Sat. the 21st at JB, THEN Sunday the 22nd at Unger?
Or is it at JB AND Unger on Saturday, then once again at JB AND Unger on Sunday?
or are we doing Saturday morning at JB, then Sat afternoon at Unger?.. .
then the other way around Sunday?

What type of tools would be helpful to bring to Unger??? Me and brother-in-law most likely be there Sat. Who is in charge there?

This weekend will be a soggy one for working on the courses.
Bring rubber boots and a pair or two of gloves and towels
Bring Ibuprophen or other pain killer/suppressant and water for drinking and cleanup
Bring 5 gallon buckets and trash bags for the litter
Bring a pickaxe mattock
Bring rakes, the hard tooth type and leaf type
If you have a truck, bring a wheelbarrow and a post hole digger
Bring a hoe for mixing concrete and a couple of shovels
Do not show up empty handed lest you be chastised

The Unger course has a few items to be addressed that can still be accomplished.
1) Trash and debris cleaned up from the flooding and clueless golfers
Bring 5 gallon buckets to carry the trash to the trash cans/trash bags
Debris collected and brought to a potential pickup point for the park trucks (near a road or path)
Debris collected and used to line the path between pin and tee pad
Debris collected and used to create a floor between pin and tee pad
2) Stumps can easily be dug up when the ground is this soft
Bring a pickaxe mattock (a blade type of tool)
One tool can be traded between 2 people
We have hundreds of these stumps and they are a safety hazard
3) I called Rick, parks guy, to let him know we will be there this weekend working on the course
He is willing to let us explore installing some holes in the woods (in front of the park)
Dave and I will be walking that area to check out its possibility
I spoke with Dave about the design and hope we can add 6 to 18 more holes in the woods
4) I am going to Unger today to walk the course and determine if we can install tee posts
I will be marking the ground for tee post and kiosk locations (maybe)

Sunday is calling for more rain so Saturday is our focus for getting it all done.
We can work on holes 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 18, 17, 16, and 15 without too much trouble.
The other holes will be wait and see, however, stumps and trash can be addressed on nearly all the holes.

Dave and I walked the woods at Unger this afternoon and also went to the back of the course along the road for additional holes later.
Holes 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14 are unplayable and holes 15 and 16 are unreachable when the water is high over the spillway.
We(he) has come up with a 9 hole temp course that can be played while the park is flooded: holes 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, new 11, 17 (tee from short side of washout), 18 (tee from path).
We(he) will make up a scorecard for the temp (while flooded) 9 hole course.
I will get in touch with Rick and submit a proposal for additional holes in the woods using an aerial map. The Park hierarchy may squash the proposal since they were cold to the idea when the course went in.

The pavilion is in desperate need of scraping and painting. This might be a good project for us to include boy scouts or other civic organization.
The mailbox needs to be installed and signage to pick up trash posted at the pavilion and new tee posts.
Rick said the Parks Dept has no trash cans but said we could supply them for the course.
He said if we empty the trash and bring it to the parking lot, he will pick it up.
If we collect the debris and bring it to a path or road, he will either mulch it or pick it up.
He can also help us with signage.

I will have a sign-in/sign-out sheet for volunteers that will be used for 'park hours' donations. I expect to be at Unger at 9a. From our membership of 300, it would be awesome to have 20 people show up ready to work. Bring a lunch.
PS. Mark your tools with paint or tape or other identifiable symbol so you can quickly gather them when you leave.
