This thread is the official bulletin board for the 2013 OFH!
I may be jumping the gun a bit, but I talked with Dave this morning and we are starting to set some plans for this year's tournament. Dave is going to go pay a visit tomorrow afternoon to see what work needs to be done. He will also be instructing the current caretaker on how to take care of this. But, as of right now, it looks like the tournament is going to happen! Dave gave me a percentage of 98%...I'll take it!On a sad note, it also appears that this will more than likely be your last chance to play the amazing disc golf mecca that is Ozark Mountain.
It really all depends on how the tournament goes over with the current landowners. If we don't leave too heavy of an impact on the land AND the owners like the whole vibe that we bring, who knows, maybe a tournament can be held in the future. It is just one of those things that will have to be analyzed in the future. With that said, I would honestly plan on this being your last chance to play the Ozark Mountain DGC Complex. We are going to do our best to make sure that it is a good one!
Some of the quickie details that we discussed this morning:
1) The scheduled date of October 19th and 20th is not going to be used. He is going to figure out the new date in the next couple of days. Some possibilities include the following weekend (10/26 - 10/27) or a weekend in early November. The area schedule is REALLY tight with all sorts of events, and Dave wants to do his best to avoid stepping on as many toes as possible. We will let everyone know ASAP.
2) This WILL BE
a PDGA sanctioned event. I am going to get it on the PDGA schedule just as soon as we figure out the actual dates. Plan on it being a C-Tier level event.
3)All 3 courses will hopefully get to be used. It honestly depends on how much work needs to be done, how much volunteer/labor work Dave can scrounge up, and what the weather is like between know and then. If all things go well, there will be 54 different holes of golf to play!
That is all for now. I will post updates as they become available.
