Ryder Cup 2012 Thread

Here is your Ryder Cup update thread.

Last year's captain, Dave McCormack, handed off the the captaincy to Justin Bunnell. I talked with Justin last week and we nailed down some of the Ryder Cup information for this year. Here is what we came up with:

As you will notice, the Turkey Toss will not be used as a qualifier this year. The Holly Daze tournament this weekend will still remain a qualifier. Just so that you understand why there is always a little confusion as to wether or not the Turkey Toss/Holly Daze toyrnaments are qualifiers or not every year, I will offer a simple explanation. The new Ryder Cup captain is not selected until after the previous year's Ryder Cup. Therefore, the qulaifying schedule is not set by the new captain until sometime afterwards. As a precaution, I will always indicate that the tournaments are qualifiers when I set the schedule 12 months earlier, just in case that the new captain wants them to be. Sorry for the confusion, but that is the best that I can seem to come up with.

Doh and JB I like what I see. Please add dates as soon as you can for the way soon qualifiers(sp). The way offs, like the Ozark open, the sooner, the better. Some of us...

Thanks, Ron! I have been trying to get the schedule together since the Club Championships. It is always a struggle to get everyone coordinated on all of the dates, especially the County Parks Department. Once we get full confirmation from the parks that all of our submitted dates are good to go, I will post the full schedule. Here is where we are at so far...

Just remember that this is tentative and should be treated as such.

Also, if anyone talks with Dave Higgins in Centralia or the Springfield, IL guys, could you please ask them to post an update with their 2012 tournament schedule. I was hoping to have copies ready for everyone to grab at the Holly Daze this weekend, but will not be able to due to the County Parks Department not being able to confirm our dates until next week for some reason. There will be laminated copies available for $1 at the Ice Bowls, or free non-laminated copies as well.

OK. We have had a few changes made by the captain. I think this should be the final revision of the rules and regulations for the 2012 Ryder Cup. I will change the word document and schedule accordingly when I get back home. Here was the latest transmission:

This is what i would like to happen.

All RCF events are qualifers EXCEPT the ice bowls. (Not liking the ice bowls being in there if there is no payout. Thus there being no real open division).
You can only gets points if you play the open division (not masters)
You get 1 point for each OPEN player you beat and 1 for a tie.
There is 4 auto bids, 2 points spots and 6 captain's picks.

Now that 99% of the 2012 Ryder Cup duties have been successfully taken care of by Justin Bunnell, it is time for him to complete that last 1% and pick the captain for next year. Let me go talk to him right now and see where he is at...

OK, it is officially official...Jerry Barklage will be the Ryder Cup Team Captain for 2013. Congratulations Jerry! Let's just make sure that the tournament doesn't coincide with one of your colonoscopy appointments or require the use of your reading glasses too much!
