Hopefully our Gateway Collegiate Qualifier participants (and everyone else who's interested!) can hold their breath for a few more hours while i upload and collate a few hundred more photos this afternoon and evening, but i thought i'd throw this out there as a "teaser" (click and 'full size' it for a better view):

BANNER1 bordered 800x1725.jpg

when i get finished up, each team will have their own album of pictures on the Club's Photobucket page from Sundays Doubles that they can download and use as they see fit, including a full size "team photo" of their own. Saturday's singles-rounds photos will all be in a separate album that folks can look through and find themselves and their teammates in...

I'll also put up links to a write up/recap of the whole weekend on the Club's Updates Page that will have a slideshow of selected pictures and maybe some video.

Thanks again to all the participants and volunteers who made the event so enjoyable and helped it to run as smoothly as it did!

***EDIT: my apologies to Illinois St., whose picture i initially left out of the Team Picture "collage" above***

Look for an article on PDGA later this week recapping the Gateway Collegiate Classic. Big props to the St. Louis Disc Golf Club for stepping up and becoming the first city disc golf club to host a collegiate disc golf event. This was the biggest collegiate qualifier to date. I have received nothing but positive reviews from the collegiate players that participated in the tournament.

The Gateway Collegiate Classic has been a model of how future collegiate disc golf tournaments should be run. Cities around the Nation will follow your lead in helping organizing collegiate disc golf tournaments.

I think I speak for many when I say collegiate disc golf will likely be the what propels the sport of disc golf as a whole to the next level. The idea of Kansas City holding an annual collegiate qualifier in the fall and St. Louis holding one in the Spring was thrown out by TC Brown. I hope we can make this happen!

I spoke to the Alan Kane (the head of collegiate disc golf) today and it looks like there is interest from ESPNU in broadcasting the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships in the near future. This is HUGE for disc golf!

Any UMSL players out there? No team in '12 and if this happens again in 13 i'd love to help represent.
i plan on being enrolled for the next 3 years or so and would love to get group together and form a team.
