Great news today! #1 ranked University of Alabama-Huntsville will be in attendance. In fact their going to bring two teams up to compete. Looks like there should be great B-team competition with three teams already interested in fielding two teams.

Just so everyone knows the top three ranked teams (#1 UAH, #2 Purdue, and #3 Arkansas) will be in attendance at the Gateway Collegiate Classic.

This is shaping up to be an intense battle that will reveal a better understanding of which collegiate team will be most likely to win the 2012 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships.

FYI, most teams that are interested in attending have already received bids to the National Championships.

The Collegiate National Qualifying Tourney is coming to Saint Louis at the Beginning of March. Lindenwood is going to field a team. We are looking to raise some funds. I am wanting to know who would be interested in a first run Flying Lions Disc Golf Club Shirt. I am going to sell them for $15.00. Please let me know if you or anyone you know is interested. I will put the pic up in a minute. The shirts will be gold with black print. Please help support Collegiate Disc Golf in STL. Please let me know sizes and how many you want. email me at tbrown@lindenwood.edu for your order.

KU and Meremac Community College have contacted me with interest in attending. As far as I know here is the most updated list of interested/registered teams.

Arkansas (2)
Murray State (2)
Illinois (2)
University of Alabama-Huntsville (2)
Purdue
Missouri
Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville
Western Illinois
Western Kentucky
Southern Illinois University-Carbondale
Lindenwood University
Meremac Community College
Kansas University

To maximize the diversity of this event B-teams will be given 2nd preference to teams that plan on bringing one team. In other words B-teams will be put on a wait list until we determine if there will be extra available spots to field these teams.

Who said the rivalry between KU and MIZZOU was over?

UofAdiscgolf, on Sunday I will be meeting up with some friends from SIUE that are highly interested in playing in this tournament. I'm sure we are all eligible to play, just needing to know if there are any forms or anything of that nature that needs to be completed before the day of the event. This sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity (especially since I'm a senior  ). If you need to reach me, you can catch me on my cell 618.830.1520.

Peace,

Johnny Lynn

Hey Johnny,

There aren't any forms that you need to fill out. Just send a roster to me at rwblack44@gmail.com including each players name, hometown, year in school, and college (business, engineering, etc.).

Entry fee is $120/team and includes a tournament stamped disc for each player and lunch between rounds on Saturday.

Send Checks to:

Thanks,
Ryan

St. Louis Collegiate Qualifier

Postby emptv on Sun Feb 12, 2012 7:52 pm

Disc up,
Just a idea for someone to follow up on. As a "not for profit" organization, the RCF can apply for state, local, and county tourism grants because you are bringing in people from another state for this event. The money is out there waiting to be asked for, there may not be as much as in previous years but there is still $$ to be had. This goes for all big events that bring in out of state participants, these people all spend money while here, hence the grant money.
Greg, this is untouchable for the outlaws, as we are a different status than "not for profit"

8-)
