Endicott Open/Global Tourney

Postby eupher61 on Mon Jul 11, 2011 1:32 pm

August 20-21, the B-Tier Endicott Open will be part of the PDGA's Global DG Tournament.

So far there are 15 events, including in New Zealand, Japan, and England. There's a global payout in addition to the local payout, so you can win twice. There's also a healthy pool of USDGC spots up for grabs.

More to come soon, but

http://www.pdga.com/pdga-global-disc-golf-tournament

has more details about how it all works.

Here is the updated flyer...

I don't think there should be any more changes, but you never know.

There will also be an optional $5 CTP/ACE POOL package available.

UPDATE: The course layout has now been set. See the attachment below.

OK Now the GDGT will be a TWO DAY EVENT so think hard about this!

I have to make a couple more calls to find out the info I don't have.

Post any questions here?

GLOBAL DISC GOLF TOURNEY

WHAT IS A GLOBAL TOURNEY?

On the weekend of August 19-21, 2011, the first ever PDGA Global Disc Golf Tournament (GDGT); will be played. The players will simultaneously compete with players in their division at their local event AND against players in their division at other global events being run that weekend around the world.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

 Players will play three 18-hole rounds on the same course that weekend.
 The three round ratings you earn will be added to determine your global score.
 Players in each division can win cash or prizes in their local event, and those doing well may also cash in the global competition.
 The North American events must be sanctioned preferably as B-tiers, with C-tiers (or B-tiers) being acceptable outside North America.
 The courses used must have SSA values in the 48-54 range.
 Endicott will be a suitable course and can be set for an SSA in this range.
 All Pro divisions will be offered.

For AM only Advanced (men & women), Advanced Masters (men) and Intermediate (men) divisions will be offered.

SO WHAT IS THE PAYOUT?

 For this first event, only 30-50% of your entry fee goes toward the global payout.
 50-70% going toward your local event payout plus the added cash for a B-tier in North America.
 If the number of events sets a new weekend record, which it will, it should be great news for the pro payouts.

DOES THE PDGA HAVE INFO ON THIS?

 Check out the GDGT web page (http://www.pdga.com/pdga-global-disc-golf-tournament).
 It should let players know where events will be hosted and keep everyone posted on new information as this event comes together.
 It's the weekend after Pro Worlds.
 Pros may be traveling across the country on their way to the Pittsburgh NT scheduled a week after the GDGT. So you might get a top pro playing your event.

YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER

Just a reminder; there is no "day of" registration for the GDGT Endicott Open.
 The pre-reg deadline is 8pm Thursday August 18, 2011.
 That is two days before the Saturday August 20, 2011 start of the GDGT Endicott Open.

REASONS FOR PRE-REGISTRATION:

 Having a pre-reg deadline is essential for a global disc golf tournament.
 I have to have the correct names and current addresses.
 That info is captured for both members and especially the non-members who may be entering your event.
 If you cash in the Global event, Pre-registration guarantees you get it.
 A TD report may or may not include that info.
 Pre-Registration asks for all the information required to make the global interaction process smooth. So when play is finished the information can be uploaded and the results from all 16 – 20 GDGT tourneys from all over the world can merge so you can see where you rate against the world.

BASIC PLAYER INFORMATION:

 Players compete with other players in their division playing in many events around the world on the weekend of August 20-21 at the same time they are competing face-to-face in their local event.
 For all Pro divisions, $25 of your entry fee goes toward the global purse in your division and the rest goes to your local purse. All local added cash goes into the local purse. You have a chance to cash both locally and globally if you do well.
 Global pro division payouts will be to the top 33% in each division with checks mailed to U.S. winners from the PDGA signup service. Those who cash at events outside North America will be paid in appropriate currency in method to be determined based on the country.
 For the four global Am divisions offered: Advanced Men & Women, Advanced Master Men and Intermediate Men, $15 of your entry fee goes to your global purse. Much of that $15 will go toward a nice player pack which at this point includes two golf discs plus DVD. Most of your payout chances will be from your local purse.
 The round ratings earned by each player in three 18-hole rounds on the same course will be added together to produce each player's global point score to determine global standings and prizes in the division they entered.
 Global first place ties will be broken by going to decimal values for tied players' round ratings. But players tied for first or any other position will receive equal payout.
 The top 30 players among all divisions, who exceed their rating by the most in the global competition and have not yet qualified, will receive invites to compete in the 2011 USDGC.

SO WHAT’S IN THE PLAYERS PACK

 Players Packs for all Amateur Divisions provided by the PDGA will include:
 A disc from Vibram
 A disc from DGA
 A DVD by Billy Crump of Clash
 plus other items from sponsors and the RCF.
 It may Grow check in

SO WHAT FORMAT / SCHEDULE / INFO IS AVAILABLE?

 Field Capped at 72 Players.
 Registration must be closed by Thursday at 8pm.
 We are only offering divisions to be used for the Global Event
 Added Cash of $500 and growing.
 All Divisions 2 Rounds at Endicott DGC Saturday Aug.20th.
 All Divisions 1 Round at Endicott DGC Sunday Aug.21st

Registration will be up in the next couple of days.

PLEASE REMEMBER: PRE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Last day to register is August 18 at 7PM CDT.

As Mark posted earlier, this is a totally new concept in tournament play. Everyone has a chance to cash on the local AND the world level. There's no guarantee that you will cash globally, no matter how high you are in the local event.

The standard rates for PDGA B tier registration will be in play:
PROS AMS
MPO $65 MA1 and MM1 $45
all other Men Pro divisions $55 MA2 $40
ALL PRO WOMEN'S DIVISIONS $50. FW1 $35

All Pro divisions may be open (requires 3 to open a division). ONLY THOSE AM DIVISIONS LISTED WILL BE OPEN. That's a GDGT thing, not a local thing.

Keep checking here, more will be posted as it's finalized. This is a first-ever event, so there are plenty of kinks happening well beyond our little part of the world.

http://www.pdga.com/pdga-global-disc-golf-tournament is the GDGT tournament site. If your question isn't answered there, or here, please post it, and we'll do our best to get an answer fast.

Oh, yeah....there is a possibility of a USDGC invitation, too. From the GDGT site:
The top 30 players among all divisions, who exceed their rating by the most in the global competition and have not yet qualified, will receive invites to compete in the 2011 USDGC.

This basically means you'll have to really kick butt and play WAY over your rating to get this. Only 30 overall, so--may your drives be straight and your putts stick.

thanks!

And, now that Am Worlds is over and faulty email addresses have been corrected,
REGISTRATION IS OPEN for the Endicott Open/Global Disc Golf Tournament
register at

http://www.pdgasignup.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi?CMD=011&PROD=1311694613

or you can get there through the PDGA website, http://www.pdga.com/tour_schedule

Field is limited to 72 overall players, regardless of divisions. Only the divisions listed elsewhere in
this thread will be opened, but anyone can play in any division for which they qualify (meaning, age restrictions and/or pro/am) 3 players required to open an eligible division.

Let's get this puppy FILLED!

I'm still working on prizes for CTP, Putting, etc competitions.
$5 Ace Fund for the WHOLE tournament, 100% payout among all aces. If you prefer, you can pay for the Ace Fund at sign in on the Saturday morning.

I'm hoping to have a new challenge side event on Sunday only, but no guarantees on that. More if it develops.
Let's have fun, and get some St Louis names into the GLOBAL pay lists! There are USDGC spots up for grabs, not many and they won't be easy to get.
The top 30 players among all divisions, who exceed their rating by the most in the global competition and have not yet qualified, will receive invites to compete in the 2011 USDGC.
All of that information is available at
http://www.pdga.com/pdga-global-disc-golf-tournament

This is a first-time event of its kind, hard to say what it will become in the future. There are talks about a similar thing for other AM catagories later, and for other variations on this theme in the future.

Be a part of disc golf HISTORY!

Endicott Open/Global Tourney

Postby emptv on Fri Aug 05, 2011 8:18 am

Disc Up Steve,
If you are still need for donations for the $500 added purse, let me know. Larry A KERS (the new commandant for the LAKER League) has offered to cover 1/20th of that :o ($25) to help make this a success. Also the LAKERS could possibly offer a hand in keeping the event running smoother by offering up some deputy’s time, let me check with the posse  on Sunday at Highland 9am, (gratuitous LAKER league plug) and get back to you on this.
