From the tournament side of the winter series the RCF 4 tourneys are in the books. I am sure Chris will have the numbers crunched for us to see how much cash and food was raised for the food bank. Now we still have more ice bowls on tap, Columbia next week, White Birch in 2 weeks and Collinsville 2-27 and Hannibal 2-19 to name a few. So make sure you get out to, enjoy another ice bowl, and help the cause.
The ice bowl is possible because several groups of sponsors, organizations, and special people, who you may or may not know. If you happen to play with them on your card in upcoming tournaments be sure to thank them if you get a chance.
Primarily I want to thank our sponsors, Innova and Discraft have been very generous in providing inventory at costs we can afford. Gateway provided several items also very nicely priced. Schlafly provided us with a very tasty brand of brew, and Johnny Mac’s provided us with gift Certificates. Slik provided CTPs for the series and the scorecards for the Quail Ridge tourney. These sponsors are valuable to the growth of our organization, please take some time to stop buy and show them what kind of buying power RCF has as a group, and let them know you are a RCF Member and tell them thanks!
Next, I want you all to know that we could not have pulled this off without our friends. The JCS Sharpshooters were the key organizers of this series, I think when it comes to a model on how to run a tournament the Sharpshooters have the most efficient system(make sure you attend a sharpshooter event this year and see for yourself). I muddled through the CC Tourney, check in took forever, and the basket raffle / throw off for the Blue Tickets never happened. The next week at West City, I was able to observe a balanced crew, they have a core group that was there in force to handle the activities, the entries, the grey tickets, the blue tickets and they made it look easy (it is not!). The next week at JB they again were there to help us set up, Thank you so much; Sharpshooters Rock!
Next, the St. Charles Disc Golf Club provided us a quality round of golf, and a sneak peek at the new 6 holes coming to Quail Ridge. I know that we had two rounds initially scheduled. I know that some players were not happy about the change; I accept responsibility for the change in the round schedule, due to the snow. If we did not have snow we would have played two rounds, but due to the start time of 10 am, I had to make a choice, I hope that the 27 hole layout was OK. And for you players that were not happy, I noticed and I heard you. A big thanks to everyone who help prep the course, prep food and set up the cards. Tim “Shanks” Wiegard, Josh Cole, Rick Maesson, Kieth McPeak, Greg Kuehn, Shaniac, Gary and Debbie Polkinghorne., Andy “Magic” Majesky.
Also Kudos to Joe Jaegers, Mark Dudenhoffer, Greg Doh, and Red Keenan the merchandising wizard.
Finally, I hope the ryder cup points race was jump started, and a big thanks to Chris Kinsella for tracking the scores and points.
I look forward to the upcoming tourneys, The Massacre, the C-Tiers, Bridgeton Temp basket tourneys, Ryder Cup Qualifiers and the Bluebird State series. We have a lot of golf to play this year, and your continued big turnouts will result in improved payouts. Don't forget to plan for upcoming leagues too.
