Chicago Area Disc Golf

Postby gregwil2 on Mon Jun 16, 2014 11:53 am

I will be up in the west Chicago suburbs area for a long weekend F-Tu. Does anyone know of a club up there that I could find if there are any events going on or weekly leagues I could maybe play in? Tried to search online and came up with nothing. I'll be about dead in the middle between Chicago and Rockford, so anywhere up there would work.

the only club i know of up in the chicagoland area is the joliet one: http://jtowndiscgolf.com/content/home.php.

you can sift through their site and maybe find something.

one course recommendation would be black bear park in hoffman estates. i was very surprised (in a good way) by this course.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to see if I can find something on there.
I will be really close to the Black Bear Park and I have played it before. I was was pretty nice and not overly long or difficult (scored about the same at the time with my entire bag as I did playing Condor/Wizard only). I actually posted many of the pictures on DGCR after I played it http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=3671
I know Lippold Park was a pretty decent course that I played last time too.
They have new course Fairfield Park that is pretty highly rated (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=6857) than I plan to visit.

The courses up in Rockford are pretty cool. It's been a few years but I think the park name was Anna Page, & there was two 18 hole courses there....

Good call Jeff, Anna Page has 3 courses now as of late last year. All 3 courses are well worth checking into.

I didn't get to play as much golf as I wanted to this weekend. Didn't make it to Rockford because of the weather, but did get a chance to go to Fairfield White/Squaw Creek Gold.

It was a pretty good course that I found out was recently virtually totally redone/created. The first few holes was a little weird because hole one tee had two baskets in place (one for Fairfield White and one for Squaw creek Gold) then the next few more had two tee boxes with one shared basket. Then about half way through it broke off into two separate courses. The Fairfield White course had many duces, mostly all par 3's. Then the Squaw gold had some duces, but some 4's that were not too hard 3s, but had some 5's on the back that were pretty hard. The course was somewhat like a longer Brisco Woods or more wooded Logan. Worth the visit. WARNING though if go, I had to use about a 1/4 can of bug spray because the mosquitoes were ridiculous!
