I'll just let this article speak for itself: http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/audit-shows-st-louis-county-upgraded-parks-vehicles-amid-cuts/article_6870f35d-b841-51a7-93b6-be6df9e9a8fe.html
So, we're told there's a huge budget deficit and something has to be done. Now, there's actually a hidden surplus and it gets used to buy brand new transportation based vehicles. Not to rehire the park workers that got layed off, not to mow... but to buy brand spanking new pickup trucks and sedans. Even if I were convinced that our parks dept needed new vehicles, could we not make repairs to what we already have or buy lightly used vehicles and save tons of money?
