10.04: Monthly Letter from the RCF President
10/04/12: Monthly Letter from the RCF President (Oct. 2012)
I have not written one of these since April – my life got real busy with the STL Open (May), Work Travels (May and June), and then my grandson (Tyler) was in the hospital recovering from a brain tumor for 10 weeks from July 12 until late September. The good news is he recovered with no more tumor and no more cancer! He has a lot of physical rehab and speech therapy ahead of him, but we can handle that.
Now, here we are with the club championships coming up this weekend! We should have a great event – here are some highlights:
.
*27 holes and then 36 holes of disc golf for you, our members
*Saturday will be our ’2012 party’. We will have free beverages at Endicott for our 2012 members, along with the club subsidizing your meal – we will have Corey O’Brien supplying a nice meal for $3. *Sunday will be our 2013 member kickoff – at Sioux Passage. Get there early as we tee off at 8am in order to get two rounds completed. Corey will again supply lunch on Sunday for $5.
*You can sign up for 2013 all weekend long.
*We will provide premium Innova discs (a wide variety of Champion plastic models and also Blizzards) as part of your $25 fee.
*We have replenished a lot of our disc inventory nd have some new models like the Dominator and the Krait, along with some of the new Titanium models. We also have a lot of shirts and polos and hoodies (with the Club Championship logo) available at cost all weekend.
*Another important topic – elections and board members. Tim Wiegard did a great job for us in 2012 but will not run again – so thank him for his efforts – especially his work in TD’ing both of the March C-tiers! Chris Kinsella is stepping back from being the membership manager – he signed up over 200 members himself – so thank him also for his great work for the club over the last 3+ years.
*New faces: Daniel Doss has agreed to run for the board, and Mike Pettibone has too! We have just enough volunteers to fill our needed positions so there is really no ‘races’ to be decided – but we will have some ballots on hand anyway in case there are write-ins. The board members who will run again are Steve Kleiber, Ted Spies, Greg Dohogne, Bob Waidmann, and myself.
